Who is Rachel Reed
It started early on as my husband Nick and I put our house up for sale, sold all our possessions, and moved across the country to Los Angeles, to plant a church. I was born here and LA is my one love and my calling. We are now raising our four girls here and there’s no other place we would rather live.
As a pastor’s wife the last nine years, I have not only been able to be a part of replanting a church, but to take on an intense building program of our own. I have seen the ups and downs, and all the financial burdens that come with church growth. I have felt the spiritual and physical exhaustion it takes, and just when I thought I had had it altogether, God would bring me back to my knees. Our building program was one of those “faith seasons”, filled with unexpected turns and a roller coaster of emotions. It was a learning curve. I know it is for so many that call ministry their true calling.
Church construction is not the first thing you think of when it comes to ministry descriptions, but pastors know all too well, that it’s part of the program. Ten years ago, I began to help churches with designing their nursery spaces. What started out with church nurseries, God opened up the unique opportunity to partner with churches to design both inside and out. I have seen churches thrive and bloom when it comes to attracting their communities, and I am thankful to play a small part. I pray with each new design, that the gospel will always be in the forefront as we seek to reach those “outside our doors” together.
